Chex Mix is a Christmas tradition in my parents home. Every December my Mom would make enough Chex Mix to fill a 5 gallon tub. I'm obsessed with the stuff so when Mom decided to spend Christmas in Vegas with us, I requested Chex Mix! Then I found a recipe for making the mix in the Crock Pot and had to give it a whirl.
It works and it is AMAZING (I have the third batch cooking right now)! I made the first batch pretty much per the recipe on the blog except I used 6 cups of Chex (2 cups each of rice, corn, and wheat) and added in bagel chips and mixed nuts. Everyone agreed there just wasn't enough seasoning. So for the next batch I stayed with 6 cups of Chex, but made the seasoning with the amounts listed on the original recipe. I would suggest mixing together all the seasonings after you put them in the crock and stirring as you add the dry ingredients (the cereal, pretzels, etc). My mix took 2 hours or less on low heat to cook. I also had to stir every 20-30 minutes to keep it from burning.
Here is the mix at the beginning:

Mmmm... Bet your house smells yummy now, too, doesn't it. I think that is something my boys would actually eat. I should try it. Thanks!
